“Do you have your own mood lighting now? Because frankly, the accent is enough.”
Despite Steven Moffat being in charge for several years now, that felt more like an RTD era Steven Moffat Episode than we’ve seen in a long time.
Probably a standalone episode, all about a childhood fear - although in this case making it better rather than worse.
Scared is a superpower. Fear makes companions of us all. So a comforting episode, then.
How would you play something like it? Not easily. The Doctor starts with an idea, which is proven wrong after a few false starts, but the resolution is Clara closing the loop.
The player starts with an idea to explore, the GM isn’t sure it will work, gives the other player a chance to resolve it...
But then, what was that under the bedspread? Best not to look, as M.R. James would advise.
And pre-war Gallifrey is not locked...? Or just that barn?
And next week, Abslom Daak and the Terileptils! ... in that quick slideshow of criminals.
