My brain hurts.

An observation from yonder RPGnet...

If the Doctors are numbered by their being the Doctor, not by their regeneration... there could be pre-Hartnell regenerations who did not call themselves the Doctor.

    This was exactly where I thought the John Hurt Doctor was going to be. It was only after the Night of the Doctor I realised otherwise.

    Wasn't that what we were supposed to think?
